Fluenz: language learning app

Brand refresh – a case study

Fluenz, a digital language learning app, assists users in acquiring languages like Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese. In 2015, I personally used the app to learn Italian. While it’s well-structured, I encountered some issues with the app’s design and user experience. Feeling motivated, I decided to refresh the brand and enhance certain sections of the app.

I aimed to create a fresh look and feel for the logo and overall branding, while maintaining essence of the original logo, so the new brainding is still easily recognizable.

I made some changes to enhance the app’s usability, including:

  • Consistent UI with uniform colors and button placement.

  • Improved accessibility by increasing font size and enhancing contrast with the background.

  • Larger tap area for easier actions and reduced accidental wrong actions.
